CT Judiciary Committee Considering Amendment to Collateral Source Statute

Yesterday, Attorney Kelly Petter of Hassett & Donnelly, P.C. testified before the Connecticut Judiciary Committee as a member of the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Defense Lawyers Association in favor of amending the Connecticut Collateral Source Statute (C.G.S.A. 52-225a) to permit a collateral source reduction following a plaintiff’s verdict in a personal injury or wrongful death action for the difference between the total amount of medical bills charged and the amount of any right to subrogation or lien for the economic damages paid by a third party.
